Words for the Weary: STRESS

The university is the place that promises growth but delivers pain, right? And the biggest blow to our hopes of learning with a smile and soaking in the glory of fresh experience is, of course, stress.
Stress is often thought as a threat to our peace, our joy. We begin college expecting to learn the information that will aid us in our aspirations. We hope to arrive on the other end of four years with a better understanding of the world and a fresh take on how to address its challenges. But, naturally, learning is challenging. Engaging new ideas means straining or even replacing old ones. This means taking the time to think with diligence and communicate with clarity. Hence the essays and exams that are used to assess where we are in the learning process. The stress of it all can be really overwhelming.

Fresno Pacific welcomes a new Theater Director

n the Spring 2018 semester, students and faculty were heartbroken to hear that the Theater Program was at risk of being cut. After outcry from supporters within the community both on and off campus, Fresno Pacific was able to save the program and hire a new Theater Director to help cultivate and broaden it.

FPU student newspaper wins grant for new camera

The Syrinx student newspaper won a $1500 Campus Equipment Grant from the California Press Foundation. The staff will use the grant to purchase a DSLR camera for their newsroom.
Syrinx editors applied for the grant in April 2018 with the endorsement of the Editor of the Fresno Bee, Joe Kieta. Kieta visited FPU on Monday on behalf of the California Press Foundation to present the $1500 check to Editor-in-Chief Leo Loera.
